Introducing 2023’s Football Club of the Year, sponsored by TNT Sports

The 31st Club Awards took place on 22 November in Leicester, with TNT Sports sponsoring the Football Club of the Year category, led by the company's Alasdair Collis.

The Football Club of the Year finalists 2023 were:

Kings Lynn Football Club
Linthwaite Football Club
Mossley Association Football Club
Solihull Moors Football Club
South Shields Football Club
Warrington Football Club

And the winner was … South Shields Football Club (pictured with TNT Sports' guest presenter for the night, Ex-England Goalkeeper Peter Shilton).

Host for the night and sports presenter John Inverdale said: “The club won promotion to the National League North (the sixth tier) for the first time in April 2023, by winning the Northern Premier League title. It appeared live on BBC One’s Match of the Day in the first round of the FA Cup and opened a new stand with 15 corporate hospitality boxes. It’s also been featured on social media account, The Padded Seat, securing more interactions than Premier League clubs.”

Following South Shields success, TNT Sports then welcomed the Community Football Clubs of the Year on stage

In praise of The Kings Lynn Town FC Foundation, John explained that it had set up ‘Linnets In The Community’ to engage with local people to make a genuine impact on their lives, from promoting inclusive sporting opportunities and after school clubs to walking football and acting as a ‘hot spot’ during Winter.
The Solihull Moors Foundation was applauded for its work to support the disadvantaged in the local community, helping them to take part in regular sporting and social activity, to gain skills and confidence, and to improve their physical and mental health and their overall wellbeing.

Finally, John and TNT Sports announced this year's Football Hero of the Year - Consett AFC’s Frank Bell

Frank is the Chairman and owner of Consett AFC as well as Head of Professional Services for the FA Club Programme which is there to help clubs and leagues develop into sustainable facilitates and businesses. Sadly he and his wife were involved in a serious motorway accident on their way to the Awards. Thankfully, Frank called in to report that although their car was a write off having being hit by a lorry, they are both safe and well!
